On Saturday, Oct. 12, over 400 alumni and teachers from Fayette County High School, spanning classes from 1960 to 1979, gathered on the Fayette County Courthouse lawn for a memorable multi-year class reunion. The event featured live music from the band C-Plus, which entertained guests with dance tunes and singalongs of beloved songs from their high school days. Attendees also honored their classmates who had passed away, with each class displaying a memory board to commemorate those lost.

The Fayette Community Foundation is accepting grant applications for 2024. All applicants should be aware the grant application has changed this year and all previous versions will not be accepted. Applications are available at the Fayette Co. Probate Office located on the first floor of the Courthouse through Thursday, Oct. 31. Office hours are Mondays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. amd Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. All applications must be received in hand by the Fayette Community Foundation’s Administrative Coordinator, Jennifer Fowler, by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The Fayette City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Fayette City Hall. All council members were present except for Councilman Jerry Nichols and Mayor Rod Northam. The meeting commenced with a prayer led by Kelcey Hale, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Berry Town Council held its regular meeting on Oct. 7 at Berry Town Hall, with all councilors present. The meeting began with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Town of Berry Industrial Development Authority held its organizational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Berry Civic Center. All members were present for the meeting except Brandon Frost and Wesley Jacobs. The meeting was called to order by Allen Stepan, seconded by Roger Morrison, and approved by all. The meeting began with a prayer led by Kenneth Bozeman.

The council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Fayette City Hall. All council members were present except for Councilwoman Virettia Whiteside. The meeting commenced with a prayer led by Chris Herbert, minister at Fayette First Methodist Church, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Tommy Williams.

Get ready for a weekend of fun and festivities at the City of Fayette 2024 Alabama Frog Level Festival and Cruise In! Kicking off on Friday, Oct. 4, the festival opens at 4 p.m. with live music featuring the Alabama Street Band at 4 p.m., followed by Secondhand Luck at 5:30 p.m., and Chase Evan at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 5, the excitement continues bright and early at 8 a.m. Enjoy performances by the Bama Dancers at 9 a.m., and don’t miss the thrilling Frog Jumping Contest at 10 a.m. The C+ Band will take the stage at 11:30 a.m..

The Fayette County Board of Education held a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Courthouse Annex building board room. All board members were present. The meeting was led with prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Fayette County Commission held its regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 23, at the Courthouse Annex Building. District Five Commissioner Robert Townley led the meeting with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Berry Police Department, have charged two Fayette County residents in a fentanyl trafficking case.
