Northwest Alabama 4-H Pig Squeal

The Northwest Alabama 4‑H Pig Squeal Show and Auction will be held Friday, April 25, at the Fayette Multipurpose Complex. The swine show will be at 9 a.m., with the auction to follow. 4‑H students from Fayette and surrounding counties have been raising these market hogs since January and will be judged on showmanship and market weight classes. A processor will be on site with cut sheets, and buyers do not have to take possession of the pig. Checks only accepted. No cash.

Grace Freewill Pentecostal Church to host an event to feed community

Grace Freewill Pentecostal Church will host an event to feed the community on Friday, April 24 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church,  which is located on Co. Rd. 35 on the right before reaching the Cotton Mill Village Community. Meals will be available on a first - come, first-serve basis. Contact Sis. Fayette Co. Extension Office to host Cottage Food Safety Training

The Fayette Co. Extension Office will host the Cottage Food Safety Training on Thursday, April 16 at 4 p.m. This course meets the food safety training requirement of the ADPH for people who want to sell certain non-hazardous foods from their home as a Cottage Food Business. Alabama Cooperative Extension System - Move Alabama Activity Challenge

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is encouraging community members to get active this April through the Move Alabama Community Activity Challenge. The challenge invites individuals and families to add more physical activity to their daily routines and make movement a fun part of everyday life. Participants can pick up a Move Alabama challenge flyer at the Extension office, 650 McConnell Loop, or they can also download the flyer and follow along with others across the state by visiting the Move Alabama Facebook page..

Town of Glen Allen to have spring clean up

The 2026 Town of Glen Allen spring clean up will be Saturday, April 18 at 8:30 a.m. at town hall. Materials and supplies are furnished by Alabama People Against a Littered State (PALS). Bring gloves and help clean up the community of roadside litter. There will be a cookout luncheon sponsored by community volunteers at noon at the town community center. Sign up in advance as a volunteer no later than Friday, April 3 at the town hall, Hubbertville School or Beth’s Trim and Tan in order to get a free participant t-shirt.
