As you enter Guthrie Smith Park, you may notice a new landmark  alongside the large sign bearing the park’s name. The 1,500-pound monument, which has occupied the spot for around a month and a half now, honors the life and work of John and Doris Brasher, founders of Christmas at the Park and Brasher’s Ladies Ministry. In a ceremony held on Sunday, Oct. 18, community members from the Fayette Garden Club and Beautification Committee gathered alongside the Brasher family to dedicate the monument. Fayette Mayor Rod Northam and former Mayor Ray Nelson both delivered speeches, detailing the impact the couple’s work has had on the citizens of Fayette and the community as a whole.
