As you enter Guthrie Smith Park, you may notice a new landmark alongside the large sign bearing the park’s name. The 1,500-pound monument, which has occupied the spot for around a month and a half now, honors the life and work of John and Doris Brasher, founders of Christmas at the Park and Brasher’s Ladies Ministry. In a ceremony held on Sunday, Oct. 18, community members from the Fayette Garden Club and Beautification Committee gathered alongside the Brasher family to dedicate the monument.
