Town of Glen Allen to join 100 Alabama Miles Challenge

The Town of Glen Allen invites you, your family and friends to join the 100 Alabama Miles Challenge.  The 100 Alabama Miles Challenge is a challenge to walk, run, hike, bike, swim, paddle, ride or roll 100 miles through the state. There will be a local kickoff event on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 a.m. at the Glen Allen Town Community Center. For more information on the challenge, visit: 100alabamamiles.org.

Bethel Baptist to celebrate 175th anniversary

Bethel Baptist Church, 2096 Co. Rd. 51, Fayette, will celebrate its 175th Anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m.  Special music will be provided by the Vaughn Family, along with guest speakers.  All members, former members, friends and families of members are encouraged to attend.   After the service, a meal will be served.  Everyone is encouraged to attend the service and the lunch.  

Thanksgiving Day meal at The Loft

The Loft is preparing for its annual Thanksgiving Day meal, and the community is invited to help make the special time of sharing and gratitude possible for neighbors. They are requesting financial donations, fresh sweet potatoes, bottled water and soft drinks, green beans, cranberry sauce and divide-to-go boxes. If anyone would like to help in any way, contact The Loft Outreach at (205) 303-5114. Donations can be dropped at The Loft Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Loft is a 501-C3 charitable organization, and donations are tax deductible. 

19th Annual Festival of Trees

The Fayette Art Museum/ Civic Center would like to invite everyone to the 19th Annual Festival of Trees, from Dec. 1 until Jan. 2. Brother 2 Brother fundraiser

The Brother 2 Brother brotherhood will have an Iron Bowl BBQ fundraiser. Boston Butts are $50, and a slab of ribs is $35. The deadline to purchase tickets is Saturday, Nov. 15. Food will be cooked by Spark’s Smoked BBQ and pickup will be Friday, Nov. 28 from 4 until 6  p.m. at 220 2nd St. N.E. in Fayette at the Dare to Believe building. Local Author Showcase at FCML

Fayette Co. Memorial Library will host a local author showcase on Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. If you are a published author in Fayette or surrounding areas and want to showcase your work, contact Jessie Crowe at jessie@fcml.org or call (205) 932-6625 by Friday, Nov. 7 to register.

Family First Board Game Drive

Help the 24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s office provide a board game for every first grade student in Fayette, Pickens and Lamar Counties. Games or monetary contributions can be dropped off at any District Attorney’s Office (Fayette, Carrollton or Vernon), any West Alabama Bank and Trust branch or the Fayette Police Dept.
