Stewart McGill, manager of Tate Farms in Madison County, was the guest speaker at the 2023 Fayette County Farm - City Dinner, held on Nov. 16 at the Boy Scout Building in Fayette.
The 2022 Fayette County Farm-City Banquet was held on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Fayette Boy Scout building. The theme was “Sustaining for the Future,” and the event was sponsored by the Fayette County Farmers Federation.
The Fayette County Farmers Federation held its annual Farm-City Dinner on Nov. 21 at the Boy Scout building in Fayette. The dinner was a lead-in to Farm-City week, which is celebrated Nov. 22-28 this year to coincide with the Thanksgiving season. Don Mulvaney, professor of animal science at Auburn University, was the featured speaker for the dinner, and told the crowd about some of the challenges facing farmers today. Farmers are being asked to grow more and better agricultural products as both the numbers of farmers and available farm land is increasingly shrinking.
