Lady Wildcats finish second in region

The Berry High School girls varsity volleyball team finshed their regular season with a 9-12 overall record, finished 2-0 (2nd) in the region and finished second runner up in area tournament on Thursday Oct. 16.

The Hubbertville girls’ varsity volleyball team finshed the season with a 4-13 overall record and finished 1-5 (4th) in the region.

FCHS volleyball team has successful season



The Fayette County High School varsity volleyball team finished a successful 2023 season, winning the regular season area title and hosting the area tournament. The Lady Tigers received a first-round bye in the Class 3A, Area 9 Tournament, then defeated Winfield three sets to one to advance to the championship match. Fayette faced a tough Carbon Hill squad for the title, and won the championship match three sets to one.

Fayette County High School’s volleyball team won the Class 3A, Area 9 championship by defeating Carbon Hill in the championship match three sets to two.

Fayette volleyball to host area tournament

Fayette County High School will host the area volleyball tournament on Thursday, Oct. 19.
Gordo and Winfield will meet at 1:30 p.m. in the first match of the day, and the winner of that match will play Fayette at 3 p.m. Oakman will face Carbon Hill at 4:30 p.m., with the championship match scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

 

Volleyball returns to Hubbertvile School

For the first time in approximately 40 years, Hubbertville School will field varsity and JV volleyball teams this season.

 

Rushing signs scholarship offer

Karli Rushing, senior at Fayette County High School, signed a scholarship offer on Feb. 19 to continue her academic and volleyball career the next two seasons at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Miss. This fall will be the first-ever season of volleyball at the school, and she is anxious to be a part of this historic team for Itawamba.

Bevill celebrates ‘Pink-Out’

Bevill celebrated a “Pink-Out” tailgate party and volleyball match on Thursday, Oct. 10 in recognition of breast cancer awareness. Students and faculty enjoyed grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, and snacks prior to the Lady Bears match against Andrews College. Bevill State completed the afternoon of cancer awareness by defeating Andrew College 25-18, 25-10 and 25-13 in straight sets to win the match.

 

Fayette volleyball wins WAC


Pictured is the Fayette County High School volleyball team, which won the West Alabama Conference (WAC) tournament championship in Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The FCHS Lady Tigers went undefeated in Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 5 to win the 2019 WAC Tournament. Fayette swept Sulligent (25-13, 25-19) and Lamar County (25-10, 25-9) to advance to the championship and defeated Winfield (26-24, 20-25, 15-11). In a tri-match on Monday, Oct. 7, the Lady Tigers suffered a loss against Northridge (25-20, 13-25, 10-15), but beat Oakman (25-18, 25-15). On Tuesday, Oct. 8, Fayette lost an area game to Curry (25-21, 25-23, 25-11), then defeated Sumiton Christian (25-11, 25-17), leaving Fayette with a 20-3 season record.
