Tucker to start new football program at Belgreen



Former Fayette County High School graduate Luke Tucker has been hired to start a new high school football program at Belgreen High School in Franklin County. Tucker has been the head football coach for the past two seasons at Dale County High School. He was an assistant football coach at Fayette County High School for several years, was the head FCHS baseball coach, and led the Tigers to an undefeated 15-0 football record and a state championship during the 1996 season as a junior quarterback for the team.

The Fayette County Board of Education voted 4-1 at its June 25 meeting to hire former Fayette County High School football coach and former BOE member Waldon Tucker as the new FCHS varsity football coach. All current members of the board were present for the meeting. Board Member Keith Madison opposed the hiring of Tucker, while the other board members supported the motion. Tucker resigned his position on the Fayette County Board of Education during a special-called meeting on Monday, June 22.

Tucker to coach at Bartlett High in Tenn.

Lance Tucker has accepted a job to be the head football coach at Bartlett High School in Tennessee, effective June 1. Tucker resignation as head football coach at Fayette County High School was accepted by the Fayette County Board of Education at its meeting on Jan. 15. The effective date of the resignation is May 31. At Fayette County High School, Tucker compiled a 76-31 record in eight seasons, including finishing as runner-up for the state championship three times during those seasons.
