Fayette Police Department hosts crisis training

Local law enforcement and other members of the community gathered in Fayette for the Crisis Response and Intervention Training held Sept. 15–19. Hosted by the Fayette Police Department and presented by the Tuscaloosa Police Behavioral Intervention Team and the Northwest Alabama Mental Health Center, the 40-hour course equipped participants with skills in mental illness recognition, de-escalation strategies and communication techniques. The training is supported by CIT International and other national organizations, and meals were generously provided by the District Attorney’s office and Fayette Fire Department.
