The Fayette Medical Center Long-Term Care Facility celebrated it’s annual Valentine’s Banquet at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14. The theme for this year’s celebration was Candyland. Residents enjoyed a wonderful meal, featuring their choice of ribeye steak or grilled chicken. The residents were served restaurant-style by Fayette Middle School, Fayette County High School and Bevill State Community College Nursing Students. The Fayette Medical Center’s Long-Term Care facility held a “drive-through” parade for its residents on May 26. The residents enjoyed going outside to greet the many friends and family members who participated in the event.

Fayette Medical Center’s Long-Term Care facility registered its first confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus last week, according to a spokesperson for DCH Health System. Andy North, vice-president of marketing and communications for DCH, issued the following statement concerning the virus at the facility: “Late last week, a few residents at Fayette Medical Center’s Long-Term Care facility began showing symptoms of COVID-19.

The residents and staff at Fayette Medical Center’s Long-Term Care facility enjoyed a drive-through parade in their honor on Friday, May 15. After most residents had been secluded from friends and family members for almost two months during the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the community turned out to thank the long-term care workers and greet the residents. Seventy-eight vehicles paraded through the parking lot, with most of the vehicles adorned with balloons and signs telling their family members how much they have missed seeing them during the pandemic.

Christine Fink, a resident at Fayette Medical Center Long-Term Care, celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday, Feb. 12, surrounded by family and friends. A lifelong resident of Fayette, she said that she still enjoys visiting with people and reminiscing about the way things used to be.

Santa visited the Fayette Medical Center Long-Term Care facility on Friday, Dec. 20 to hand out presents to all of the good residents.

The Fayette Medical Center Long-Term Care facility hosted an Independence Day “Watermelon Celebration” for its residents. The Long-Term Care facility provides daily activities for its residents and always sponsors special events during the major holidays, as well as Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day.

Fayette Medical Center Long-Term Care residents hosted an Easter Egg hunt for pre-school children on April 17.

Residents at the Fayette Medical Center - Long-Term Care facility treated pre-school children in the area to treats on Halloween during the facility’s annual event. Children politely walked through the hallways in their colorful costumes, greeting the residents and receiving candy on their journey. Several of the residents and many of the staff members also dressed in colorful outfits as they waited to greet the children.
