Commission approves purchase of excavator



The Fayette County Commission held its Aug.14 meeting at the courthouse annex building. All commissioners were present for the meeting, with the exception of Commissioner Wesley Jacobs. Commissioner Robert Townley opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Tom Wisemiller, president and CEO of the Northwest Alabama Economic Development Authority, (C3) addressed the commission at the beginning of the meeting.

 

Commission approves ‘Rebuild Alabama’ plan



The Fayette County Commission held its July 24 meeting at the courthouse annex building. All commissioners were present for the meeting. Prior to the beginning of the meeting, Mount Joy Pastor Kelcey Hale led the commission in prayer. Fayette County Engineer Jarrod Milligan presented the commission with a FY 2024 “Rebuild Alabama” transportation plan that had been discussed by the commissioners in a previous work session. The transportation plan is funded through the county’s share of Rebuild Alabama funds and is required by law. The plan must be submitted by the commission by Sept. 1.

The Fayette County Commission held its July 10 meeting at the courthouse annex building. All commissioners were present for the meeting. The commissioners approved the agenda, minutes of the last meeting and the financial claims for the past two weeks at the beginning of the meeting.

 

Commission holds meeting in Canaan Community

The Fayette County Commission held its June 26 meeting at the Canaan Community Center at the request of Commissioner John Underwood. All commissioners were present for the meeting.
During the absence of Commission Chairman Mike Freeman, who was attending a conference meeting, Commissioner Wesley Jacobs stepped in as vice-chairman to conduct the meeting. Underwood led the commission in prayer to open the meeting.

 

Commission upgrades employee’s status

The Fayette County Commission held its June 12 meeting at the Fayette County Courthouse Annex Building. All commissioners were present for the meeting. Commissioner Wesley Jacobs opened the meeting with a prayer.

 

Commission holds meeting at Concord

The Fayette County Commission held its May 22 meeting at the fellowship hall of Concord Baptist Church, at the request of Commissioner Robert Townley. All commissioners were present for the meeting. A local pastor, Terry Oswalt opened the meeting with a prayer.

The Fayette County Commission held its April 25 meeting one day later than usual and at the Fayette County Annex Building instead of the Berry Civic Center as had been originally planned. All commissioners were present for the meeting.

 

Lightsey speaks to Commission about internet service

Ronni Rene Brasher, the Fayette County Extension Agent, spoke to the commission about the new classes for the Fayette County Leadership Program that will be resuming soon.

Waste Management representative explains billing

The Fayette County Commission held its March 27 meeting at the Wayside Community Voting Precinct, at the request of District 2 Commissioner Shane Hughes. All commissioners were present for the meeting. The meeting began with Commission Chairman Mike Freeman allowing citizens at the meeting to ask Waste Management Representative Kerry Howell questions concerning the recent Waste Management quarterly bills that were received by residents.
