The Alabama Republican Party has disqualified Fayette County resident Greg Lowery from seeking the Alabama House of Representatives, District 16 nomination during the Republican Primary. Lowery’s name will be on the Republican Primary ballots, which have already been printed. A spokesperson for the Alabama Republican Party confirmed to The Times-Record last week that Lowery has been disqualified due to a violation of the state party’s by-laws that prohibit a candidate from running in a Republican Primary within six years of seeking office with another party.
