Harris begins 44th year as coach at Hubbertville

The 2020 football season is about to begin at Hubbertville and for the 44th consecutive season, Lamar Harris will be leading the team as head coach. Harris’ 44-year tenure leads current Vestavia Hills’ Coach Buddy Anderson by one year as the longest tenured football coach at any high school in Alabama football history. Although he has seen a lot in his 44 years at Hubbertville, Harris said that he has never seen anything like the current COVID-19 pandemic sweeping through the nation and world. “It’s so unpredictable,” Harris said. “The information is constantly changing.
Hub defeats Brilliant 20-10 in area tournament

The Hubbertville Lady Lions traveled to Guin on April 29 to begin play in the area tournament. In the first game of the tournament, Lynn defeated the Lady Lions 8-0. Emma Nichols pitched a complete game in a losing effort for Hubbertville. Chelsea Porter and Madison Cribb collected the only hits in the game for Hubbertville.
Hubbertville softball loses twice to Sulligent

Hubbertville played Sulligent twice last week, once away and once at home, losing both games to the Lady Blue Devils. On April 23, Hubbertville traveled to Sulligent and was defeated by the Lady Blue Devils by a score of 5-0. Emma Nichols pitched a complete six-inning game for Hubbertville, allowing seven hits and only two earned runs. Gracie Dodd led the Lady Lions in hitting, with two singles in three at-bats. Cayla Tidwell added a double, while Haylee Pollard and Nichols had the only additional hits for Hubbertville.
