ROY GENE FULMER

Gene, lovingly known to many as “Swifty Man”, was a devoted Christian, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was born on October 11, 1938, in Fayette to Thomas Leonard Fulmer and Ella Potts Fulmer. Gene leaves behind a legacy of faith, joy and love that will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends. A proud Christian man and longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, he served faithfully as a deacon and set the example of what it truly means to walk with the Lord. His faith was not only something he spoke about often but something he lived every single day.
Gene deeply loved his family. Whether cheering on his loved ones at life’s milestones, sharing stories at family gatherings, or offering words of wisdom, he was a steady source of strength, encouragement and love. The words in Matthew 5:16 embody the faith that guided his life: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.”
Gene found joy in the simple things - laughing with his family, sharing a cup of coffee with friends and watching Alabama sports, always quick to say “Roll Tide”. His joyful spirit brightened the lives of all who knew him. On his 80th birthday, he celebrated with a wish for 80 more years - a reflection of how grateful he was for every day he was given.
Though Gene’s presence will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. We rejoice in knowing he is reunited with Roena and resting in the presence of his Savior.
