Fayette County High School announces week long homecoming festivities

Fayette County High School will celebrate its 2025 homecoming during the week of Sept. 29 through Oct. 3, with the theme “GAME ON, Blue Devils!” The homecoming festivities kick off Friday, Sept. 26, with “A Night in the Bayou,” a dance for students in grades 9–12. The event will be held at Bungalows from 8 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased by Thursday, Sept. 25.

Throughout the week, students can participate in themed dress-up days:

• Monday: “Monopoly Monday” — Dress like a millionaire or favorite celebrity.

• Tuesday: “Twister Tuesday” — Dress as a teacher, coach or faculty member.

• Wednesday: “Battleship Wednesday” — Grade-level color wars: seniors wear red, juniors blue, sophomores green, freshmen yellow, and faculty wear school shirts.

• Thursday: “Candyland Thursday” — Pajama day.

• Friday: “Game On” — Wear orange and black or homecoming shirts.

A community bonfire is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the softball parking lot. Children not enrolled at FCHS must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The annual homecoming parade will take place Friday, Oct. 3, with a revised route due to the Frog Level festivities.

The new route will begin at the high school continuing down 2nd Ave N.E. and turning left onto Columbus St. E. and then turning left onto 3rd Ave. N.E. The route will then turn left onto 4th St. N. E. and take a right on Temple Ave. N. and continue to the Fayette Square parking lot. Lineup begins at 12:30 p.m. at the high school softball field, with the parade starting at approximately 1:20 p.m.

To enter a float or vehicle, participants must call the school office at (205) 932- 6313. Non-school entries are asked to pay a $20 fee to help cover costs. Only parade vehicles will be allowed in the lineup area. Drivers are prohibited from throwing candy during the parade, per city council guidelines. Passengers may gently toss candy, and float sponsors are responsible for ensuring spectator safety.

The Tigers will face the Cordova Blue Devils at John Morgan Brown Stadium, Waldon Tucker Field on Oct. 3. Kick-off will be at 7 p.m., with the presentation of the 2025 homecoming court and crowning of the queen before the game at approximately 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Parking is $5 and tickets are $10.
