Fultondale High forced to forfeit wins due to violations

Fultondale High School’s varsity football program has recently been fined and placed on probation for violating the AHSAA Transfer Rule by playing ineligible players, according to a release from the AHSAA. As a result, the program has forfeited all games in which these players participated. Fultondale forfeited wins against Cordova, Hamilton, and Fayette County High School. This puts Fayette County in a favorable position, as the Tigers will now advance to the playoffs. In addition to the forfeitures, the ineligible players were required to make restitution for the contests they participated in while ineligible. “It’s exciting for our players, especially our seniors,” Head Coach Jared Porter said. “They thought they had played their last game last week, and now they get another opportunity to play football. Hopefully, this momentum will carry us into the playoffs and next season. We have a mostly young group, and anytime you can get into the playoffs, it’s a great thing. It’s been an emotional time trying to get the guys back into football mode after the bye week. Some were already in basketball practice, and others had started working. Now they get to come back and practice and play in November.” The Tigers will travel to Trinity to face off against the West Morgan Rebels on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m.
