Fayette County struggled to find an offensive rhythm Friday night as Hatton handed the Tigers a 40-0 loss in their Class 3A, Region 5 opener. The Tigers entered the Sept. 4 contest coming off a 33-6 victory over Lamar County, but Fayette County was held to 155 yards of total offense as Hatton used a strong rushing attack and several big plays to pull away. Fayette County received the opening kickoff and began at its own 39-yard line. After a short opening run, quarterback Jake Rickman connected with Hester Whittaker, but the Tigers were unable to pick up the first down and Carrson Sullivan punted to the Hatton 29.
