MICHAEL WHEAT
A memorial service for Mr. Michael Wayne Wheat, age 52 of Fayette, was held Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Nelson Funeral Home, with Reverend Lyle Holland officiating. He died Monday, March 30.
Michael was born on January 28, 1974, to Harlon Junior Wheat and Mary Parker Wheat, who preceded him in death. He was a lifelong resident of Fayette, a devoted father, and a faithful friend.
Michael was a maintenance planner at Tamko Building Products in Tuscaloosa, a career that spanned twenty-seven years. A quiet man of wisdom and courage, he dedicated his life to his family, ensuring his children knew the value of hard work and determination.
Whether he was cheering from the sidelines of softball and baseball games, teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and hunt, or including them in whatever he was repairing or building, Michael made every moment unforgettable. His legacy endures in the lives he shaped and the example he set each day.
He is survived by his two children, Tyler Wheat (Alexis) and Thekla Harris (Cade); two grandchildren, Kolten and Kohen Wheat; and siblings, Steve Wheat, Dwight Wheat (Suzie) and Teresa Wheat.
Honorary pallbearers were the employees of Tamko.
Pallbearers were Tyler Wheat, Steve Wheat, Dwight Wheat, Brent Wheat, Tim Wyrick and Cody Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Children’s Heart Foundation.
Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette directed.
