On Monday Dec. 9, the Berry High School Varsity Girls played against Lamar County and lost 38-49. On Thursday, Dec. 12, The Lady Wildcats traveled to face off against Phillips and lost 36-47.
FCHS Varsity Boys
On Tuesday, Dec. 10, The Fayette Varsity boys played against Hamilton and won 55- 48. On Friday, Dec. 13, The Tigers faced off against Winfield and won 59-50.

On Dec.10 the Varsity Lady Tigers faced the Hamilton Aggies and lost 62-46. On Friday, Dec. 13 Fayette played against Winfield and lost 51-39.

On Monday, Dec. 9, the Berry High School varsity boys’ basketball team played against Lamar County and lost 52-56. On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Wildcats faced off against Phillips and were defeated 88-74.
On Friday, Dec. 13, the Hubbertville Varsity Boys Basketball team won their NAC Tournament game against Marion County High School by a score of 72- 61. The team was recently recognized as NAC Tournament Champions.

A single-vehicle crash on Monday morning has left one person injured, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
On Friday, Nov. 22, Fayette County’s varsity boys team lost to Northside, 65-55. The Lady Tigers also lost to Northside on Friday, 51- 39.

On Dec. 2, the Lady Wildcats opened their season with a 25-13 win over Oak Grove. On Dec. 3, Berry faced a tough match against Pickens Academy and lost, 44-30.
On Dec. 2, Berry High School’s varsity boys team faced Oak Grove to open their season, but lost, 58- 46. The Wildcats bounced back on Dec. 3, defeating Pickens Academy, 50-26.

The Berry Town Council held its regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 2, at Berry Town Hall. All members were in attendance except for Councilor Charles Tidwell.
The Glen Allen town council met on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the town’s community center for the regular monthly meeting. All council members were present with the exception of Councilman Joel Isham.
Alandis D. Smith of Gordo was fatally injured in an accident while driving the 2004 Toyota Highlander pictured left. Jordan C. Hallman of Fayette was killed in an accident while driving the 2012 Toyota Camry pictured right.
Fayette police and fire departments were called out on Sunday, Dec. 1 around 2 a.m. after a fire was reported in the 100 block of Fourth Street S.W. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is still under investigation.
On Tuesday, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, along with Fayette and Carbon Hill Police, escorted Carbon Hill Police Officer Jordan Driver, to his home in Fayette. Driver was involved in a motorcycle crash on Aug. 29 that resulted in serious injuries and was airlifted to UAB, where he spent around seven to eight weeks before being transferred to DCH in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 30. Since then, Driver has undergone multiple surgeries and therapies. “It’s going to be a long road to recovery,” said Fayette Police Corporal Jordan Roberts.
The Fayette City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Fayette City Hall, with all members present. The meeting opened with a prayer by Councilman Eddy Campbell, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by the Fayette Junior and Senior Toybowl Cheerleaders.

An Old-Fashion Christmas returns to downtown Fayette for its fifth season. Established during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, an Old Fashion Christmas has become a beloved holiday tradition for many. The festive event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5 - 8 p.m. in downtown Fayette.

The Berry Wildcats played host to the top-ranked Wadley Bulldogs in the third round of the state playoffs.
The Glen Allen town council held their regular session on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Town Hall. Councilman Robert Aldridge and Councilwoman Bobbie S. McCraw were not in attendance for the monthly meeting. The council elected to hold the town’s annual Christmas tree lighting event on Monday, Nov. 9, at the Town Hall parking lot with activities beginning at 6:30 p.m.
