Hub varsity boys named NAC Tournament Champions

On Friday, Dec. 13, the Hubbertville Varsity Boys Basketball team won their NAC Tournament game against Marion County High School by a score of 72- 61. The team was recently recognized as NAC Tournament Champions.

A single-vehicle crash on Monday morning has left one person injured, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Driver released from hospital

On Tuesday, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, along with Fayette and Carbon Hill Police, escorted Carbon Hill Police Officer Jordan Driver, to his home in Fayette. Driver was involved in a motorcycle crash on Aug. 29 that resulted in serious injuries and was airlifted to UAB, where he spent around seven to eight weeks before being transferred to DCH in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 30. Since then, Driver has undergone multiple surgeries and therapies. “It’s going to be a long road to recovery,” said Fayette Police Corporal Jordan Roberts.

Herring named to city council



The Fayette City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Fayette City Hall, with all members present. The meeting opened with a prayer by Councilman Eddy Campbell, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, led by the Fayette Junior and Senior Toybowl Cheerleaders.

An Old-Fashion Christmas returns to downtown Fayette for its fifth season. Established during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, an Old Fashion Christmas has become a beloved holiday tradition for many. The festive event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5 - 8 p.m. in downtown Fayette.

Glen Allen to hold tree lighting event

The Glen Allen town council held their regular session on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Town Hall. Councilman Robert Aldridge and Councilwoman Bobbie S. McCraw were not in attendance for the monthly meeting. The council elected to hold the town’s annual Christmas tree lighting event on Monday, Nov. 9, at the Town Hall parking lot with activities beginning at 6:30 p.m.
