Drug bust yields multiple arrests

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force agents assisted Alabama Probation and Parole during a home visit in the 23000 block of Hwy. 18 E. in Berry involving probationer Grady Pendley. 

According to Sheriff Byron Yerby and Investigator Branndon Collins, officers discovered multiple narcotics and drug paraphernalia items. Substances found included fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana and Xanax.

Wildcats advance to next round

The Berry Wildcats started the playoffs by welcoming the Fayetteville Wolves to Fred Webster Stadium. The Wildcats took an early lead and looked to be on their way to a comfortable victory, but the Wolves fought back and kept the game close in the fourth quarter. However, the Berry defense made a stand late in the game to give the Wildcats a 44 - 37 win.

Fayette City Council Members sworn in

The Fayette City Council held its organizational meeting Monday, Nov. 3. The meeting opened with a prayer led by the Rev. Jeff Bridges, followed by the posting of colors and the Pledge of Allegiance, conducted by members of VFW Post 5406. Mayor Rod Northam called the meeting to order. Fayette city council presents check to FMC

Fayette Medical Center (FMC) Hospital Board Members were on hand to receive a check in the amount of $424,307.98 from the city council for upgrades to FMC. Glen Allen Council honors McCraw

The Glen Allen City Council honored long-time council member Bobbie S. McCraw at their meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7. She chose not to seek reelection after serving 29 years of continuous service in council seat four. Homecoming is always an exciting time of year. It gives the fans an opportunity to catch up with classmates and to cheer on the next generation of students. With that in mind, the Wildcats welcomed the Brilliant Tigers to Fred Webster Stadium. The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead and never really looked back as they rolled to a 39-point victory.

Fayette Chamber to hold awards ceremony Nov. 6

The Fayette Area Chamber of Commerce will recognize three outstanding community members during its annual awards ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 6. Steven Nolen has been named the 2025 Citizen of the Year, Frances Butler will be honored as Volunteer of the Year, and Sean White will receive the Junior Citizen of the Year award. The ceremony will take place at the Fayette Civic Center from noon to 1 p.m. Space is limited, and attendees are asked to RSVP by emailing fayetteareachamber@gmail.com or calling (678) 986- 9127.
