ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed proposals will be received from General Contractors by  the Fayette County Board of Education, located at 103 First Avenue NW, Fayette, AL  35555, until 2:00 PM Local Time; Thursday, September 18, 2008;   for:
 
REROOF OF THE FAYETTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GYMNASIUM FOR THE FAYETTE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION FAYETTE, ALABAMA PSCA FUNDED  
 
at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read.

A cashiers check or bid bond payable to FAYETTE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and statutory Labor and material Payment Bonds, and insurance in compliance with requirements, will be required at the signing of the Contract.

Drawings and Specifications may be examined at the Office of the Architect; F.W. Dodge Plan Rooms in Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama; Dodge SCAN; AGC Internet Plan Room in Birmingham, Alabama; and Reed Construction Data in Birmingham, Alabama.

Bid Documents should be ordered from Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. by calling (205) 879-4462.  Documents can be picked up from Imaging Technologies or shipped upon receipt of a deposit of $ 100.00 per set, made payable to: Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc., which will be refunded in full on the first two (2) sets issued to each general contract bidder submitting a bonafide bid, upon return of documents to Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc., in good and reusable condition within ten (10) days of bid date.  Other sets for general contractors, and sets for subs and dealers, may be obtained with the same deposit, which will be refunded as above, less cost of printing, reproduction, handling and distribution, which is estimated to be the same as the deposit amount.   Partial sets will not be available. To expedite orders, deposit checks should be faxed and mailed to Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc. 2701 1st Avenue South, Suite 100, Birmingham, Alabama 35233, fax (205) 879-4493.

A MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE will be held at the FAYETTE BOARD OF EDUCATION, at the above address, at 2:00 PM local time on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 for the purpose of reviewing the project and answering Bidder’s questions. Immediately after the meeting a walk through of the project site will be performed.  Attendance at the Pre-Bid Conference IS REQUIRED for all General Contractor Bidders intending to submit a Proposal, and is highly recommended for Subcontractors.  Bids from General Contractors not attending the Pre-Bid Conference will be rejected.

This project is being bid INCLUDING TAXES, and requires the contractor to enter into a separate agreement with the Owner, wherein the Contractor will be authorized to make materials purchases with purchase orders issued by the Owner, issue tabulated invoices to the Owner for Owner ’s payment at least once monthly, so as to take advantage of the Owner’s tax exempt status, and otherwise to administer the sales and use tax savings portion of the project for the Owner, as a part of their Bid.  Taxes will then be deducted from the contract amount either from payments issued to the Contractor or by change order at the end of the project, as elected by the Owner.

Additional qualifications and requirements for General Contractor Bidders and separate Subcontractors are indicated in the Bid and Contract Documents.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in their judgement, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
